is AHIA right for You?

AHIA is designed to support lab-to-market entrepreneurs who have a passion to change health outcomes and improve health efficiencies in Africa. Review the list of qualifications below to see if AHIA is right for you:

  • Early stage entrepreneur in healthcare

  • Resident of an African country with valid passport (**note: due to South African visa restrictions, we cannot support innovators with Rwandan or Libyan visas)

  • Expressed need for business support in one or more of the following areas:

    • Developing a business plan

    • Intellectual property and patent rights

    • Market analysis & competitive landscape

    • Investor pitch preparation

    • Understanding the entrepreneurship journey & financing opportunities

    • Networking

  • Written business proposal


WHy Should you consider AHIA?

We want to support you on your entrepreneurship journey and help you make an impact in healthcare. You will join a cohort of innovators and Emory students for 3.5 days to learn from law & business experts from Emory University while being supported by the students to help you hone your business plan and conduct valuable research to grow your business.

Selected innovators will receive:

  • 3.5-day workshop on entrepreneurship and legal considerations

  • Travel, hotel accommodation and select meals ​at AHIA programming events

  • Recommendation document at the end of conference to support your next steps

  • Practice pitching with expert feedback​

  • Pitch deck consulting & market research from Emory Business students

  • Opportunity to compete for continued Emory support through AHIA:NEXT

**Innovators are expected to arrange their own visas based on South African visa requirements and fees for their home country.
